I am the mind and the mouthpiece Tokin Blaq. I'm the voice of Bomb Note Entertainment, and will be your guide through the eclectic world of urban expression found on the West coast of Canada. Based out of Victoria BC, Bomb Note is a home for urban musicians in and around the city to be heard. Since our inception in august of 2009, we have worked with over 25 new and exciting artists, performed dozens of shows and released 4 albums.
As we move forward into the larger music scene, We felt that Having a hub for any information or updates would be a great way to get people to know us and the artists we work with. As well as having a place to rant and tell you what we think you should be listening to....cause this is a Blog and it revolves around OUR opinion! you might like it, you might not. For this, the inaugural blog, I wanted to update you on the Big Things goin on in the Bomb Note camp. First of all this has been THE big week for us so far. Despite pointless politics and misunderstandings, Bomb Note alum "ILLanI" teamed up with "The Pocket Kings" for a Collabo-set to open for Cult Favorites "Hilltop Hoods" from Australia.
This being Hilltop's third visit to victoria in two years, word had spread that they can really put on a show!! So the anticipation and expectations were very high for this show, and the people came out and filled the venue. I had to come late so I missed the first openers, The Scale Breakers, but this is what I got to see when I came down the stairs to the first Pocket Kings song....

so after IllanI and the Pocket Kings got the crowd jumping with one of the best amalgam sets that I've seen from any local act ever, Hilltop Hoods came out and Blew-The-Fucking-Stage-up!!!!! I had heard so many great things about the energy these guys throw down on stage, and I was gladly not disappointed!
Now you may have noticed that I mentioned my tardiness to the show, and as a fan and a businessman, I hate to be late for shows! but Monday Feb 8th was also the official release day for the BOMB NOTE MIXTAPE Vol.1! Aleph 1ne and I pushed hard, and it came right down to the wire, but we managed to get a large stack to the show, and littered the place!! the hardest part was trying to get past that huge crowd to get some discs up to the artists performing (thanx alot asshole bouncer! I'm their manager for christs sake!!). but we managed, and now the Mixtape movement is in full swing!! you can go to http://bombnote.bandcamp.com/ to check out and download that, and a few other albums our artists have released.
And on top of all this excitement, Bomb Note artists have finally been getting on the youtube and working on some great pro-style vids. as well as a couple gritty amateur vids. this week saw the release of the first Video from Hip-Hop/IDM dynamos Vinylsaurus Decks! The video is for their single off of the mixtape called diggers Delight (go to http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=299442468552&ref=mf to see it...) it's a great throw back to Videos I loved growing up, and I got a few years on these cats! And today T.B.A. began shooting for the second single off of the mixtape called Class of Lust, sweet vision and fun times! even got to have an emergency Cypher, and had some fun with the outright crew. if you wanna get down on shoot day #2, come out on Valentines day, thats this Sunday Feb 14th, for those who dont celebrate fake holidays, at about 11am in bastion square, downtown Victoria.
So I think thats about it for my typin at yo face for now. It's getting late so my mind is starting to wander. Theres many, many things coming up very soon, that I will tell you more about tomorrow. A big shout-out to all the peeps that came out to help us with the shoot today, and to all the talented cats on the mixtape. this is a big week for shows (YEAH FLYING LOTUS!!) so We're gonna have alot to talk about! keep in touch, and Keep it Movin!!
